Blog Announcement

Okay, i wrote yesterday that there’s going to be some changes coming up here and here’s what’s happening. I really want to do a blog where I go out and live blog every day. However, this after dark format just isn’t going to work for this new style of blogging. For one thing, most people are asleep or offline when I go out at night and while it’s still fun to look at the photos the next day, I think it’s a lot more fun for the audience if they can follow me live for the most part and watch the updates unfold in real time. So “Marty After Dark” is going to be coming to a close in a few weeks and then I’ll announce the new blog. I’ll continue to post here, but it’s just going to be random stuff and videos, as I’m going to be busy putting this new blog together. It’s always challenging building a new blog, as I’m not a technology guy, so it’s like starting from scratch each time I start a new one.

It’s funny, every blog I’ve ever done has led to another chapter.
I started out with The Marty Wombacher Show which morphed into A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars which in turn led to Marty After Dark. All of them have been fun adventures and I think the new idea could possibly be the most fun one of them all.

I want to thank everyone who reads this blog from the bottom of my heart!
I really can’t tell you how much it means to me to know that people take time out of their day to come here and I hope you all follow me into my next blog adventure. I’ll be announcing it in a couple weeks right here, so continue to check back when you can. As I said, there’s still going to be some random silliness every day until the announcement, which I’m thinking will be in about two weeks.

P.S. If you’re not on my mailing list and would like to updated via email when the new blog goes up, please send me your email address and I’ll add it to the list. And now, it’s off to work building the new blog!

I liked the ass blog you had earlier in your career.

Best of luck with the new adventure! I haven't had as much time to spend reading lately, but will always follow you to see what's around the corner.

@Assman: Glad you enjoyed that, I think you'll like the new one even better.

@kari: Thanks, Kari! I appreciate the support!

@Professor Dungpie: Thanks, Professor, I'm excited about starting a new one for 2012! Maybe this year I'll even make it out to Wisconsin and we can hoist a couple thousand beers together!

I just hope you keep your sites up forever .... I'm always looking back to 365 - and there is a ton of good info on here also. See ya in a few weeks !

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGENE

I'm beginning to suspect you are getting a cut of the lucrative "new bookmark" market.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercsp

Love you Marty! Looking forward to the new venture. Happy New Year!

@GENE: The sites will remain up and running! I'm anxious for the BBC to make an appearance on the new one!

@csp: I wish!

@meleah: Thanks, love you too and always appreciate your support and your blog as well! Happy New Year to you and your family!

@Jaws: Thanks, Jaws, I appreciate your artwork and contributions! Hopefully the new one will be up in around two to three weeks!

January 2, 2012 | Registered CommenterMarty After Dark

Can't wait to see what you're up to! On a side note, I've never been a big fan of Lichtenstein, but that one's pretty good.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBiff

Will definitely follow wherever you take us!! Good luck in the next couple weeks, I know that whatever you end up doing will be amazing!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLindsay

@Biff: Hopefully it'll be up and running in two to three weeks! And you set a commenting record today! I enjoyed them all, but can't comment back to all of them or I'd never get the new blog! I enjoyed them all and it just goes to prove one thing: You STILL gots it, Bifferoonie!

@Lindsay: Thanks Lindsay, I really appreciate the nice words and your support. I'm really excited about the new adventure!

Good luck w. the new blog - looking forward to seeing what mischief you're up to next!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered Commenteronemorefoldedsunset

Good luck, Marty-it's a lot of work to get a new blog going-it will be fun to see what you do!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBritta

Marty--I look forward to reading and viewing your new production. Very exciting.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie

@rr: I hope you follow along and supply quotes like the one you just did on the new blog! Always like seeing them!

@onemorefoldedsunset: Thanks and I'll definitely be venturing into Brooklyn more on this one, so I may be asking some advice from you about that.

@Britta: Thanks, I spent most of today trying to figure out how to remap the domain and adding a favicon in the address bar. If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky!

@Melanie: Thanks, nice to know you'll be following along!

January 2, 2012 | Registered CommenterMarty After Dark

Ah, so many suggestions! Perhaps you still need to break that cinema story I mentioned ... You know you could do it, & I'm sure Jeremiah would be impressed!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered Commenteronemorefoldedsunset

Good luck on your next venture, though I have to admit I had trouble following this lately with the "live" posts. I go to sleep early and no way can I comment the next day on so many live posts from the previous night. I thought I could but I kind of felt lost,,,I really liked the once a day thing. Actually the 365 reviews was always my favorite and being a bar kind of guy, I related to that the most. MAD had its moments also,,,but you need to do what you feel comfortable and the majority here will follow,,,the best to you always.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAl

@onemorefoldedsunset: I may just take you up on that cinema story! Great idea!

@Al: It's going to be starting in the day and I hope you check it out and continue to comment. If not, I understand and appreciate you being here as long as you have. Either way, we'll stay in touch. You can't get rid of me this easily!

January 2, 2012 | Registered CommenterMarty After Dark

I hear what Al is saying. I like the live stuff (as most everyone else does) .... but maybe instead of several different posts a day .... the post should be one long one -- with the updates on top ?

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGENE

Holy fucking shit! This is some big news! This blog really gets my dick hard, so I hope the next will do the same! VIVA MARTY VIVA MAD

“Chicken dinner with all the fixin’s!”

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commenternight goat

@GENE: Doing one long post with updates is really the same as doing multiple posts. Let me try it the way I'm imagining it and we'll see how it goes.

@Reggie Thistleton: Glad you're excited about the idea! It should be up and running in two to three weeks, I'll have an announcement here and will be sending out an email announcement as well. I'll add your address to the list.

@night goat: For the love of Harry!

January 3, 2012 | Registered CommenterMarty After Dark

oh FUCK... I hate change!!! but I will adapt and I'm excited to see what you'll come up with Marty....

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGreen Monkey

I found you when I stumbled upon the 365 blog and have been following ever since. I'll be tuning into to the new blog but I hope you don't abandon writing stories because I enjoy reading. Either way good luck and give me a heads up when you get it started.

Meanwhile I'll have to dig into the Marty Wombacher Show blog since I didn't know about it previously.

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJason

@Green Monkey: I agree, change can be tough, but hopefully you'll like the new blog!

@Jason: I'll put you on the mailing list and there will be an announcement here when the new blog goes up, I'll be posting more about it here as time goes by. I'm estimating about two to three weeks. I appreciate you following and reading and there will be stories on the new blog, I promise!

Sound as a bell. I'm pumped about the new format. dannyboy

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdannyboy

I very rarely comment anymore, but I read every day. Like Jason said, I hope you keep writing, because I really enjoy reading.

By the way - if you New Yorkers think it's too cold for you right now - come to Adelaide, Australia! 41 degress on the 1st of January, and 40 on the 2nd.

All the best Marty - looking forward to your new project!

Oh yeah - that's 40 degrees celcius!

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBrooksy in Oz

@dannyboy: Great to hear, I'm pumped to start doing it! I'm hoping to put it up before the end of the month, when it gets closer I post an update here.

@Brooksy: I appreciate you tuning in every day, mate! And there will still be writing, I may do that on Sundays, because that's the one day I won't be going out. I wish I could get to Adelaide, Australia! It's my dream to visit Oz one day!

I like even numbers, so here's to 36!

But 37 is a PRIME number.

When I was 38, it was a very good year.

January 3, 2012 | Registered CommenterMarty After Dark

From my experience, 38 is not universally a good year, but "The 39 Steps" is always a good movie.

While Giuliani was shutting down the clubs, I used to walk pass the Palladium, whose atomic number is as guessed, 46. If I had a .45 I may have shot it at the deteriorating sign. Kari reluctantly wields a .45, who's got the 46?

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercsp

In Utah the state holiday is dubbed Days of 47 to celebrate Brigham Young coming into the valley and saying this is the place. We get another day to blow up fireworks. And I get a day off work. So it's all good.

January 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkari

You took the hidden 47, which was prime. 48? Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy.
